We extend our deepest thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of the 1st WDCPath (wdcpath.ufba.br) — the first workshop ever dedicated to digital and computational pathology in Brazil — an event organized with great care and enthusiasm!
The inaugural edition of the Workshop on Digital and Computational Pathology (WDCPath) marked a historic milestone for the Brazilian community at the intersection of pathology, digital technologies, and computational methods. Held as part of SIBGRAPI 2025, this 6-hour workshop brought together students, professors, researchers, and professionals from diverse fields — including pathology, biomedical sciences, computer science, and engineering — fostering a rich environment for interdisciplinary exchange.
We featured an intense and inspiring program:
- A keynote lecture on cutting-edge technologies for data acquisition in pathology, spanning imaging and gene expression;
- High-level research presentations delivered by prominent experts in the field;
- A roundtable discussion reflecting on the challenges of bringing computational pathology into routine clinical practice;
- And, finally, the official launch of the Brazilian Association of Digital and Computational Pathology, an important step toward structuring and strengthening this emerging community.
As the first event of its kind in the country, WDCPath introduced participants to foundational concepts, recent advances, and real-world applications of computational pathology. The program included lectures, demonstrations, and interactive discussions on whole-slide imaging, machine learning for pathology, image analysis, and the integration of computational tools into diagnostic workflows.
We are grateful to everyone who participated and helped make this pioneering edition unforgettable. The success of WDCPath reinforces our commitment to promoting collaboration and innovation in digital and computational pathology across Brazil.
See you at the next edition!
